Archie Mae Gooden was oldest of eight daughters born to the late Archie and Charity Woods on November 8, 1926
God entered quietly into Archie Mae’s room at Wood haven Nursing Home in Demopolis, Alabama on June 1, 2017 and ended her book of earthly life. She fought a good fight and kept the faith, but God has only claimed his own.
Archie accepted Christ as her personal savior at an early age and united with Hopewell Baptist Church where she remained a faithful member until her health failed.
Archie was untied in Holy Matrimony to Mr. Jesse B. Gooden in the early 50’s and to this union there only child, Onzia, was born, Jesse preceded Archie in death in 1967.
Six sisters preceded her in death; Susie Woods, Bernice Russell, Ruby Clark, Hattie Smith, Thelma Berry and Julia Nell Savage.
Archie Mae leaves to cherish her memories her daughter Onzie (Wesley) Long, her two granddaughters Janielle and Danielle Gooden and her only great grandchild Little Miss Natalia Brown all of Chicago, Illinois; one sister Pauline Lindsey of Chicago, Illinois; six sister-in-law’s Bettye Hatch of Chicago, Illinois, Pheobe Moore of Birmingham, Alabama, Annie (J.C.) Brooks, Viola Wright, Bernice Ward and Leola Foster of Marion, Alabama and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Over the years Archie’s overflowing family love extends her cherished memories with the “Taylor Family” whom she cared and loved for many years; Conrand (Linda), Wade (Allison),~ children: Abbigayle and Coley ;Brandon (Jamie)~ children: Whitfield, Zane and Leo; Tracie (Nick) Harrison ~ child: Hayden
