Mr. Walter Benjamin was born June 6, 1928 in Marion (Perry County), Alabama  to the late Laura Henderson Benjamin and Johnny Warren Benjamin, Sr. He confessed Christ at  an early age and joined the Hopewell Baptist Church, Marion, Alabama . Where he was remained until his health failed.  The last mile of his earthly journey was completed on December 19, 2017 at his residence.

He was preceded in death by his wife  of 62 years, Julia Foster Benjamin in which five children were born,  two sons, Walter Benjamin, Jr. and Henry Lewis Benjamin.

He leaves to cherish his memories: a devoted  granddaughter, Julia Mae Benjamin; daughter,  LouJean (Mackarthor) Jackson of Marion, Alabama; two sons, Willie Benjamin, Jerry  Benjamin both of  Marion, Alabama; two  sisters-in-laws, Sarah Benjamin of Selma, Alabama and Hattie Mae Foster of Buffalo, New York; 17 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, 5 great-great grandchildren and a host of  nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
