David Reeves, Sr. was born in Selma, Alabama on July 31, 1955, to
the late Larry Smith and Elvira Reeves-Smith.
He accepted Christ as his personal Lord and Savior and was
baptized into the catholic faith at a very early age. He was a
member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, which later became the
Queen of Peace.
David served in the United States Army. He worked in
construction, as a welder, for many years.
David united in holy matrimony to Gloria Jackson on August 3,
1983. He was the father of four children.
David attended Oak Grove United Methodist Church until his
demise on September 18, 2016.
David leaves to celebrate his life and cherish his memories: a
loving wife, Gloria Reeves, Newbern, AL; mother, Elvira Smith,
Selma, AL; three daughters: Nichole Reeves, Daphne, AL;
Davida Reeves, Tuscaloosa, AL; Shalonda Reeves, Greensboro,
AL; one son: David “DJ” Reeves, Jr., Durham, North Carolina;
four grandchildren; Amari Solomon, Diamond Reeves, ShaKevia
Evans and Cloey Jackson; four sisters: Carolyn (Herman)
Turner, Selma, AL; Alfreda (Dewayne) Childs-Barnes; April
Smith and Phyllis (Charles) Pierce, Montgomery, AL; one
brother: Patrick (Vett) Smith, Montgomery, AL; a dedicated
friend Detron Essex, Demopolis, AL; three aunts: Lula Reeves,
Selma, AL; Louisa Reeves, Cleveland, OH; Mary Reeves, Detroit,
MI and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
