Mr. Earnest “Toot” Wagner
Mr. Earnest “Toot” Wagner was born on September 12, 1948 to the late Charlie Wagner and Ruth Mae Shaw in Perry County, AL. He confessed Christ at an early age and joined the Mt. Pleasant AME Zion Church. He later joined the Providence Missionary Baptist Church while under the leadership of Rev. Clifford Coleman. On April 10, 2023, his earthly mission was completed.
He attended Lincoln School here in Marion. Earnest married Emma Lou Holifield, who proceeded him in death. To this union three children were born. He was employed at the International Paper Mill in Maplesville, AL for over 20 years until a decline in health. He later married Glorious Huff. Earnest was well known for his sharp dressing and handcrafted “riffle” cane. He’s also proceeded in death by his father Charlie Wagner; and brother James Tinker (Audrey).
Earnest leaves to cherish a loving mother, Ruth Mae Shaw, a devoted wife, Glorious Huff Wagner, three devoted children, Earnestine Wagner-Holley (Sedrick) of Marion, AL, Eric Wagner Sr. (Jaleesa) of Selma, AL, and Cheryl Wagner Stewart (Markese) of Moundville, AL, three grandchildren who he cherished deeply, Caleb Brooks, Eric Wagner Jr., and Eriona Wagner, all of Marion, AL, three sisters, Francis Smith of Chicago, ILL, Etta Ree Howard of Thomasville, AL, Elizabeth Chapman of Whatley, AL, and Gloria Burroughs (Charles) of Greensboro, AL, four brothers, Gerald Wagner of Greensboro, AL, McLaurin Howard of Whatley, AL, Michael Howard of Gosport, AL, and Sidney Howard Jr. of Cleveland, OH, one aunt, Barbara Wright of Miami, FL, one uncle, McArther Shaw (Dorthoy) of Greensboro, AL, special devoted cousin/brothers, Henry Williams of Fort Wayne, IN, and Aaron Williams of Atlanta, GA, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
