Elaine Martin Obituary

Elaine Gertrude Martin was born on January 16, 1959, to Henry and Gladys  Martin in    Marion, Alabama. Her parents, her oldest brother, Lee Andrew, her oldest sister, Barbara O'Neal, and her youngest brother, Reginald Lamont, preceded her in death. 

 

Elaine is a member of Provewell Baptist Church in Sprott, Alabama.

She received her baptism at Christian Community Baptist in Detroit.

 

Elaine was a lifetime learner.  She attended Wayne County College, where she studied for her phlebotomist certification. Elaine also attended Dorsey School of Business.  She received an Associate degree in Theology from Wallace College in Selma, Alabama.    Elaine loved reading the Word of God.

 

Elaine was employed at Botsford Hospital in Farmington Hills, Michigan, as a Phlebotomy Technician until her health failed.

 

 Elaine was a woman drag racer (yes, "Martin" blood ran through her veins.). She was a "power puff girl" at Milan Dragway in Michigan.   Elaine was a great   driver and knew how to handle a car.  Whenever she pulled up and got out of her car, her theme song came on "She's a brick house" Yes, that's right, 36 -24- 36 Brick House.

 

Elaine was a lady with many talents and wore many different hats. She was a model, dragged race, loved cooking, enjoyed various other music, had a giving heart, and loved deeply.

 

Elaine enjoyed visiting family and friends in person or on the telephone.  She made good use of her telephone directory.

 

Elaine "Gert" leaves a legacy of beautiful memories to be cherished by; her two sons, William Martin and Nathan McCrae (Shawntelle) of Michigan; Four grandchildren, Aniya, Nathan, Saryia, and Amelia;  three brothers: Henry Martin Jr., Fate Martin (Marilyn), and Raynard Martin (Carla) of Michigan;  Five sisters: Jeanette Mahan, of Alabama; Theresa Davis (Jerry), Juanita Tetteh (George), Rocheal Martin and Jacqueline Martin of Michigan; Aunts, Uncles, A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
