Johnnie Lou Benjamin was born September 20, 1940 in Marion, Alabama to Beulah McGlothin and John McGlothin.
Johnnie transitioned to her Heavenly home February 21, 2021 at Perry County Nursing Home.
At a early age Johnnie joined Providence Baptist Church under the leadership of the Rev. F. D. Craig and later joined New Enoch Missionary Baptist Church, Tuscaloosa, Alabama. She was known as “ Mother Benjamin” and the second oldest member. She attended Marion Baptist School. Later she became a certified Nursing Assistance where she was dedicated to her work until retirement. She was very conscientious and serving her patients with dignity and respect and true compassion.
Johnnie was a special Mother, Grandmother and Sister.
Johnnie was preceded in death by her parents, John Henry and Beulah McGlothin; two brothers, Clarence McGlothin and Jerry McGlothin and sister, Ida McClenney .
Johnnie leaves to cherish her memories; two daughters, Maggie (Jesse) Hinkle of Marion, Alabama, and Sandra (Corey) Brown of Northport, Alabama; two sons, Anthony (Nakia) Benjamin of Fayetteville, Georgia and Michael (Lawanna) Benjamin of Douglasville, Georgia; 15 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren sisters, Annie Mae McGlothin, Lula (Otis) Edward both of Mobile, Alabama, Cleretha Warren and Sylvia (Charles) Collins of Mobile, Alabama; brothers, James Jemison of Greensboro, Alabama, Jimmie (Myra) Jemison of Marion, Alabama; special friends, Millie Brown and Beverly Nicholson and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins other relatives and friends.
