Johnny Smith Obituary

Johnny James Smith was born January 7, 1954 in Marion, Alabama to LP Brooks and Mary Rose Smith whom proceeded him in death. He confessed Christ at Providence Baptist Church.

Johnny graduated from Francis Marion High School in 1971. After graduating Johnny joined the United States Army where he served with the 68th Armor, Fort Dix, New Jersey. He received     National Defense Service Medal for service during Vietnam War. After returning home he attended George C. Wallace Community College in Selma where he received his Brick Masonry Degree.

Johnny considered himself as a musician who loved writing songs, playing his guitar. He was known to many as “Johnny Guitar” and he  enjoyed talking to people.  He really enjoyed coming home to spend time with family.  His favorite words was “ GET DOWN”.

Preceded him  in death, brother, Elijah Smith , niece Debbie Smith and nephew Antonio Smith

He leaves to cherish his memory: one daughter, Tara Moore of  Montgomery, Alabama; one son, Michael Parker of Birmingham, Alabama; one sister, Nancy Smith of Marion, Alabama; one aunt, Nannie Mae Smith (James) of Marion, Alabama; three grandchildren, Tatyanna Moore, Albert Shelton IV, Tarajon Jackson; one great grandchild, Jalen Manning; five nephews, three nieces, one great niece Alaiya Joy Smith whom he didn’t get the opportunity to meet, a very devoted nephew Jerome Smith of Marion, Alabama ; special friends , Chester Benson and Afrid Lott and a host of relatives and friends.
