Josephine P Heard

Josephine P. Heard was born April 27, 1955 in Marion, AL to the late Joan and Monroe Price, she departed this life on Thursday, May 7, 2020.

Josephine confessed Christ as her personal savior at an early age at Mt. Olive Baptist Church. After graduating from East Perry High School, she was employed by HealthTex for 26 years, and after raising her children she pursued her dream of becoming a nurse. She received her practical nursing degree from Lawson State Community College in 2005. She was employed by Perry County Nursing home until she became ill. One of her strongest characteristics was her sweet spirit.

Josephine was married to her high school sweetheart the late Rev. Oliver Heard. She is survived by her five children: Kenneth (Claudia) Heard of Sprott, AL, Oliver Heard of Tuscaloosa, AL, Kalissa (Derrick) Shaw of Alabaster, AL, Quinton Heard of Alabaster, AL, and Olivia Heard of Alabaster, AL; eight grandchildren: Asia, Ashanti, Derrick “Dej”, Oliver “Trey”, Kayla, Jatavais “Jay”, Kenneth “Bear”, and Ryan “Pun”; three siblings: Herbert Reed of Gulf Port, Ms, Alfreda Phillips of Marion, AL, and Roy Philips of Marion, Al; one great grandchild; a host of loving nieces, nephews, and in-laws. She was affectionately called “Grandma Phine” by her grandchildren and others. She was a devoted, faithful wife, and a loving mother.
