Laura Ann Wims Walker, daughter of the late Mary Kate Lewis (James) and Jim Wims was born May 28, 1941, in Marion, Alabama. Through the love of Jesus, Laura peacefully entered the door of eternal life on Tuesday, April 11, 2023, at Lighthouse Nursing Home in Selma, Alabama.
Laura grew up in Marion Alabama and attended Lincoln High School. She committed her life to Christ at an early age and joined Cole AME church in Marion, Alabama. Later, Laura moved to Miami Florida where she met and married the late Henry Walker. After the passing of her husband, Laura moved to Selma, AL to enjoy life with her children and grandchildren. Laura joined Providence Baptist Church in Selma under the leadership of Reverend Raymond Brown. She was a dedicated member until health started failing.
Laura loved working in retail, traveling, shopping, football, and visiting her family and friends. Her grandchildren and her belove dogs Terry and O’Reilly were the light of her life.
Laura is preceded in death by her granddaughter Monica Cherrelle Abrams, brother Robert Lewis, and sister Gloria Jean Jones.
Laura memories will be forever cherished by her three children. Son: Larry Wims, and daughters: Shirley Wims Abrams (John), and Andrea Walker Brown all of Selma, AL; A host of grandchildren and great grandchildren. Three sisters, Mary Lewis, and Margie Paige of Marion, AL; Carolyn Lewis Hunter of Pleasant Grove, AL: Six brothers, Roosevelt Lewis of Greensboro, AL; Johnny Lewis, Jimmy Lewis, Arthur Lewis (Peggy), Lee Curtis Lewis and Jerry Lewis all of Marion, AL. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
