Welcome to the memorial page for

Lillie M Miree

August 16, 2016

Lillie Mae Miree was born on January 15, 1945, to Earnest and Ermer Jackson. She confessed her life at an early age at Mt. Ararat Baptist Church in Marion, AL. She was later united in holy matrimony to Jimmy Miree and from this wonderful union  seven   children were born.

Lillie Mae Miree lived a life most people during these times would be afraid to live. She was not afraid to travel to New York City to look for a better life. She was not afraid to push the limits and see greatness in every individual she came across; by   seeing this she encouraged and challenged them to ascend to greatness. She was an active Civil League member (foot solider), whom stood firm in her beliefs with like minded individuals. She was a pillar and a great activist of her community while         holding a position, Democratic Executive Commissioner. During a time of segregation and  degradation she was a valiant participate of the Civil Rights Movement that    started in Marion, AL; which led to travel to Selma, Montgomery, Washington D.C., and  Mississippi. She was an advocate for equal rights for all of her brothers and     sisters.  She had many attributes which made her a woman beyond her years;          surpassing yet  mentoring those whom seek knowledge, those whom were willing to learn, and those whom she felt needed to have guidance willingly or not. Some of the characteristics that describe Lillie Mae are as follows: strength, resilience, courage, tenacity, God-fearing, and wise.

She was preceded in death by her father, Earnest Jackson, Sr. three brothers, Authur, Howard, and Ceasar Jackson, three sons, Micheal, Kalite, and Christopher.

She leaves to cherish her memories two loving daughters, Michelle Pryor and Tomika (Amos) Thompson,  and two living sons, Jimmy Miree Jr. and Johnathan Miree; eleven grandchildren; Tacara Lee Sabir, Lateshea (Adam) Bates, Tre’Mesia Thompson,    Amilyah Thompson, Amos Thompson Jr., D’Andre Miree, Jimmera Miree, Kay Miree, Jimmy Miree, Johnathan Miree, and Jada Miree and four great  grandchildren: Kiera Bates, Layla Bates, Kadin Woods, and  Jace Stewart; five sisters Dorothy Cosby,    Lucinda Shelton, Barbara (Tommy) Starks, of Marion, AL, Mary (A.J.) Stabler of Brent, AL, Patricia (Irving) Turner of Atlanta, GA; nine brothers, Earnest Lee(Iona) Jackson, Jr., Willie Lee (Sarah) Jackson, James (Cathy) Jackson, Bobby  Jackson,   Albert Jackson, Sidney   Jackson, and Theodore Jackson of Marion, AL, Alexander (Asetta) Jackson, Sr., and J.C. (Marciel) Jackson of Birmingham, AL, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
