Llewellyn "Duck" Simpson Obituary

And I heard a loud voice from heaven saying, “Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be his people. God Himself will be with them and be their God. 4 And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes;  there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away”. (REV. 21:3)

On February 8, 1953, God Blessed Matisha Tarrant Simpson and Paul Edward Simpson Sr. with a precious gift, Llewellyn “Duck” Simpson in Marion, Alabama. Llewellyn lived a very pleasing life. He is described by many as a person who had a calm spirit and was a stranger to none. Llewellyn lived showing love to others as God had shown loved to him. Llewellyn departed this life July 31, 2022.

He confessed Christ at an early age and was baptized at Mt. Ararat Baptist Church, Marion, Alabama. Later he became a member of Berean Baptist Church, Marion, Alabama.

Llewellyn married Cynthia Martitia Walker (his life long friend) on October 2, 1973. Out of this union was two children.

Llewellyn is preceded in death by his mother and father, Matisha Tarrant Simpson and Paul Edward Simpson Sr, William Riley Simpson, his brother, and Jimmy Fuller Sr., his son.

“And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to myself, that where I am, that you may be also. (John 14:3)”.

Llewellyn attended West Side High School and later graduated from Francis Marion High School in 1971. During his high school years Llewellyn was known as one of the most   outgoing star players on his basketball team. Later on Llewellyn was granted an athletic scholarship to attend George Corley Wallace State Community College were he pursued a career in Business Administration and continued to play basketball.

“Whatever you do, you must do it with all your heart as working for the Lord not for human masters (Colossians 3:23).”

Llewellyn believed in setting standards by exhibiting positive examples. He believed that if you started a job you must finish it. Llewellyn worked for over 12 years employed with  Baxter Travenol Laboratories in Illinois. He relocated back to Alabama in 1988 where he has worked as a devoted, dedicated employee at Niemand Industries (now known as   TekPak) even through his illness.

Llewellyn will be missed dearly. He valued spending time with his children and grands and especially loved when his brother Paul Edward would come to visit. He took much pleasure in raising and spending time with his eldest grandson Brentt. As Llewellyn began to mature in age he began to fully devote his time to the Lord and living as the Lord wanted him to, not only in giving everything his all, but in mannerism and caliber. Putting God first and his family second.

God promises His children that “ weeping may endure for a night but joy comes in the morning     (Psalms 30:5)
