Lucille Bryant, a beacon of warmth and faith, passed away peacefully on May 16, 2025, at her residence. Born on November 20, 1938, in Mullens, West Virginia, Lucille was the cherished daughter of Reverend Cornelious and Pinkie Knox. She was a loving sister, devoted wife, caring mother, and proud grandmother who left an indelible mark on the hearts of all who knew her.
Lucille's journey through life was one marked by love, dedication, and service. She was united in holy matrimony to Will H. Bryant and from that blessed union, three children were born: Shirley, Willie, and Austin. Her love for her family was profound and unwavering, a testament to her kind and nurturing spirit. Although she was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband Will, her son Austin, and her two sisters Daisy Knox and Gladys Lampkins, Lucille's legacy lives on through her surviving family. She will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Shirley Bryant, her son Willie C. Bryant, her four grandchildren, Kimberly Lett (Braxton), Dr. Brittini Pittman, Zachary McGuffie, and Christian Bryant, and her three great-grandchildren, who were the joy of her later years. Lucille's siblings were a significant part of her life, and she is survived by her brother Walter Knox (Estella) and her sisters Mattie Tubbs, Mary Lou Knox, Amanda L. Hall, Cornelia May, Mary E. Holifield, Odessa Rivers, Virginia Knox, Mamie Carpenter (Frank), and Carolyn Fletcher (Michael). A loving goddaughter, Gloria (Timmy) Carter, and five godsons, Chris, Terell, Adrian, Anthony, and Eric Knox, also cherish her memory, along with a host of nieces, nephews, friends, and kin who were touched by her loving presence.
A proud graduate of Lincoln High School, Lucille's thirst for knowledge was matched only by her commitment to her community. She dedicated many years of her life working at a local sewing factory, where her skill and attention to detail were greatly valued. Her professional life, while important, was but one aspect of her full and vibrant life.
Lucille's interests were as varied as they were heartfelt. She had an insatiable love for travel, exploring new places, and experiencing different cultures. Her passion for cooking was well-known among her family and friends, with her kitchen often serving as a gathering place for lively conversation and the sharing of meals. Lucille's recipes and the love with which she prepared them will be fondly remembered and replicated for generations to come.
Those who knew Lucille would describe her as loving, kind, and faith-filled. She embodied these qualities in every aspect of her life, from her gentle demeanor to her steadfast devotion to her faith. Her unwavering belief was a source of comfort and inspiration to many, and her kindness a balm to all who were fortunate enough to cross her path.
As we bid farewell to Lucille Bryant, we celebrate the remarkable woman she was and the extraordinary life she lived. Her memory will continue to be a guiding light for all who knew her, her spirit a comforting presence in the stories shared and the lives she touched. Lucille's journey on this earth may have come to an end, but the love she shared and the faith she exemplified will continue to resonate for eternity.
