On February 3, 2017 at 12:26 p.m. Ms. Martha Blackmon the beloved daughter of the late Laura and Perry Blackmon, Sr. answered her call from this life to be in the arms of her loving father.
Ms. Martha Blackmon was born November 26, 1922 in Dallas County. Martha was a devoted mother and dedicated grandmother and aunt.
Ms. Blackmon became mother and granny to all she came in contact with, she loved life and God blessed her to live to reach the blessed age of 94. Ms. Blackmon was a lifetime member of Siloam Missionary Baptist Church. She joined Siloam at an early age and continued to attend until her health began to fail, two things she loved was go to church and sit on her front porch and feel God sun on her face.
Ms. Blackmon was preceded in death by two sisters, Ms. Mary McMillian and Mrs. Rosie Suggs; two brothers, John Westbrook and Mack D. William; two children, Rosie Mae Blackmon Moore and Bragg West; four grandchildren, Katrina West, Anthony Moore, Carolyn Moore, Nathaniel Moore.
Ms. Blackmon leave to cherish her memories: two daughters, Ms. Catherine West and Ms. Corine West of Selma, Alabama; three brothers, David (Minnie) Blackmon, New York City, New York, Perry (Nellie) Blackmon, Selma, Alabama, Herbert Leon ( Dorothy) Blackmon, Orrville, Alabama; seventeen grandchildren, Veronica (David), Keisha ( Robert), Tchalla “T-Bone” (Carmisha), J’Suan (Tae), Nellie Mae, Tristonia (Wilbert), Terry, Sherry, Kevin, Albert, Tracy, Donald, Jerald, Renda, Lasonya, Ashia, Willie; thirty-five great-grandchildren, four great- great grandchildren; Close to her heart: Mrs. Bernice Tabbs aka Old Partner, Ms. Mary Lumpkin aka Cutting Doddle, Mrs. Tonie Johnson aka daughter, Ms. Sonya Simmon aka granddaughter, Ms. Debbie Bennett, Ms. Lynn Sanders, Ms. Thelma Lee Merchant and many more…
