Mr. Monroe Smith was born October 4, 1942 to the late Mr. John and Annie Smith. He departed this life on April 17, 2018 at the Perry County Nursing Home in Marion, Alabama . Early in life he confessed Christ and joined Mt. Tabor A.M.E Church where he served faithfully until he became ill.
He worked at Judson College for 47 years. In 1965 he met Sally Hogue and in 1995 they united in Holy Matrimony.
He was preceded in death by five sisters, Emma Lee Holifield, Rosa Mae Cannon, Laura Mae Banks, Alice Roberson; three brothers, O. D. Russell, Andrew Smith and William C. Smith; one son, Joshua Suttle, Brent, AL .
He leaves to mourn his loving and devoted wife Mrs. Sally Hogue Smith; three children, Bernadette (Rick) Covington of Colony Texas, Kimbely Hogue and Christopher Hogue both of Marion, Alabama; two brothers, John (Mary) Smith of Carrollton, Georgia, Earl (Sophronia) Smith of Ypsilanti, Michigan; two sister-in-laws, Lillian Nelson and Lou Helen Underwood both of Ft. Wayne,, Indiana; four brothers - in– laws, Rev. Jerome Brooks of Selma, Alabama, Perry Hogue of Marion, Alabama, Wheller Hogue of Dallas Texas and Ellix Hogue of Cleveland, Ohio; Eleven grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
