Pellie Rutledge Oakes daughter of late Young and Golda Rutledge, was born August 23, 1939 in Sprott, AL. Pellie was a Faithful Wife; she met and fell in love with James W. Oakes. They were united in marriage for 54 years until the Lord called her home.
Sister Pellie, confess Christ at an early age in was baptized at Mt. Gilead Baptist Church. Later she join Hickory Grove Baptist Church where she served until her death.
Pellie moved from Alabama to Detroit until June 5, 1993, then she moved back to Marion, AL. She works several jobs she was very dedicated to her work; she retired from Hardee’s.
Pellie made her transition on Saturday, December 21, 2024. She leaves to celebrate her legacy and memories; a devoted, caring, and loving husband James W. Oakes; Five sisters, Jennie Mae Oakes of Sprott, AL, Essie Ray Rutledge of Pensacola, FL, Hosea (Peter) King of Sprott, AL, Deborah (Lawrence) Tubbs of Dothan, AL, Patrica (Michael) Capers of Slidell, LA; three brothers, Joe Nathan Rutledge of Demopolis, AL, Elbert (Theresa) Rutledge of Muscle Shoals, AL, Lee Marvin (Patty) Rutledge of Pensacola, FL; preceded in death three brothers Young Rutledge, Jr, Arthur Lovoy Rutledge, Larry Rutledge and her twin sister Nellie Jones.
She will be missed by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends especially Evenly Turner and Sharon Hood. Special cousins Bertha Kennie and Valeria Brewer always step in when needed.
