Phillip Harris Obituary

King Phillip Jamoris Harris

To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heavens: A time to be born, A star is born, King Phillip Jamoris Harris was born to Irma Jean Harris and Jeffrey Tubbs on October 11, 1991.

A time to die: Phillip departed this life on July 6, 2022, at Selma Rehab and Health Facility surrounded by family and friends.

At the age of 11, Phillip confessed Christ as his Lord and Savior and joined Trinity Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. B.L. Tucker, where he served on the usher board with his aunt Josie Sanders and sung in the choir along with his aunt Judy Lee.

Phillip was preceded in death by his grandmother, Joanna Harris Hines, grandfathers, Phillip Hines, and Michael Gibbs; uncles, Timmie Harris, Brady Harris, Roosevelt Hines, Enoch Hines, Bennie Harris, Lee Curtis “Mickey” Hines, aunts, Judy Lee and Josie Mae Sanders.

Phillip excelled in many things. During his grade school years, he excelled in math and was a challenger, loving numbers and finding them a challenge. His gifted talent landed him at Wallace Community College where he received his degree in Welding. To know Phillip is to love Phillip because he had many gifts and loved to help fix anything. It was known that if Phillip was involved, he was the smartest in the group. Phillip was blessed to have many friends and acquaintances. He was so full of life, and it was displayed in his departure.

Phillip graduated from Francis Marion High School in May of 2010. He was a member of the varsity foot-ball team. After high school, Phillip matriculated his education to Wallace Community College where he studied to become a very talented welder. He traveled the world using his craft.

Phillip was a man of many trades. He was the best cook of his mother’s children. He always was dressed to impress and always had a cologne scent that had you asking, “Big Phil what you are wearing?”

Phillip was a faithful fan of the Auburn Tigers. Phillip was always fun to be around. There was never a dull moment in his presence. Even though Phillip was fun to be around he was always about “his business.” He loved his work and took pride in everything he did and did it well.

Phillip leaves to cherish his precious memories: his mother, Irma Jean Harris, his father, Jeffrey (Joahcandra) Tubbs, grandmother, Norma Rean Tubbs. His sisters, Constance Harris of Tuscaloosa, AL, Brittany Harris of Harvest, AL, Keisha Tubbs of Hammond, IN, Koressa Anderson (Danzel) of Birmingham, AL; two brothers, Jayden and Jayleon Tubbs of Marion, AL. A very special niece, Ai’Kavelyn Joann who he adored, nieces and nephews, Keontae, Kailynn, Ka’leyah and Ka’Miyah. Aunts, Punnie Evans, Darlene Harris, Polly Harris all of Marion, AL, Rosie Sanders of Uniontown, AL, Sarah Pilot, Martha Parish of Fort Wayne, IN, Willie Miree of Charlotte, NC; Uncles, Connie Harris of Marion, AL William Edward Hines of Baltimore, MA, Albert Hines of Selma, AL and C. L. Turner of TX. Special friends, Shakyrria Moore, `Darlene Eubanks, Leon Kennie, JaKelvin Brooks, Chris Lewis, Bobby Lee Harris, Ken Washington, Aldin Essex, Jarvis Bennett and a special cousin, Charles “Punch” Sanders. He also leaves a host of cousins and other friends who will miss him dearly.
