Richard Moore Obituary

The Lord is too wise to make a mistake. He is too just to do wrong. God came back to claim his own. Brother Richard “Main” Moore, departed this life on September 12, 2022, at  Baptist Medical Center South in Montgomery, Alabama.

He was born on May 1, 1970, to Clara Turner Moore in Uniontown, Ala. Richard was the second-born child of eleven children. He was raised in Marion, Ala. by his mother and the late John Russell, Jr.

He confessed hope in Christ Jesus at an early age and attended Berean Baptist Church in Marion, Ala., under the leadership of the late Rev. Johnson.

After he graduated from Francis Marion High School and later became a Certified Welder, he moved to Birmingham, Ala.  Shortly thereafter, he obtained his Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).  Later in years, he went to work for J.B. Hunt Transport Services. He was dedicated to his employment at J.B. Hunt until death. He never missed a day of work. He was admired by many on his job for his dedication, hard work, sense of humor, and thoughtful nature.

Richard enjoyed watching Alabama Crimson Tide Football.  He was a loyal Crimson Tide fan for many years.  He also enjoyed spending time with his furry pet cat.  Richard had a special friend, Brandy Scott, who loved him and introduced him to his cat.  Richard enjoyed talking on the telephone for hours with his mother.  Richard enjoyed reminiscing about the past and how much he appreciated his parents’ tough love growing up. Richard loved his family unconditionally. He often expressed his love for his siblings, nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, and uncles.

Preceding Richard in death was his father, the late John Russell, Jr.

Richard leaves to cherish his precious memories:  A very loving and caring mother, Mrs. Clara Lee Russell, Calera, AL; four (4) sisters: Sharetta Rena Moore, Birmingham, Ala., Estella (Kyle) Simmons, Millbrook, Ala., Shirley Ann Moore and Stephanie Russell, both of Calera, Ala.; six (6) brothers: Brian Russell, Houston, TX; John Moore, Montgomery, Ala., Franklin (Danielle) Russell, Marvin (Crystal) Russell, Alfonso (Chyelonda) Russell  & Lawrence (Sherry) Moore, of Tuscaloosa, Ala; eleven (11) nieces: Angelica, Shirlyncia, LaShundra, Jalyssia, Grace, Sara, JaKaliyah, Aniyah, Jalilya, Erionna &  Zoey; six (6) nephews: Lawrence Jr., Martavious, Alfonso Jr., JaMirrius, Calvin & Johnathan; aunts, uncles, numerous cousins, other relatives, and a host of many friends.
