Tamakia was born on August 7, 1976 in Selma, Alabama to Ora Bowie and the late Reuben Lamar. Tamakia was called to rest on July 27, 2020 at her home. She spent her last moments in the presence of her children.
She devoted much of her time to serving her community with a smile that illuminated any room. Tamakia spent many years working as a custodian for the Dallas County Courthouse and the St. James Hotel. She later worked as a newspaper carrier and mailroom inserter for the Selma Times Journal. Tamakia dedicated all of her free time working as an integral part of the church. “Mrs. T” served many roles within Gospel Tabernacle COGIC to include: custodian, praise team member, usher, bus driver, baby-sitter, and assist for the After School Program.
Tamakia is survived by her mother, sisters, brothers; son, Joshua Ware, daughter; Zilporah Lewis, daughter-in-law; Jasmine Ware, grandchild; Zion Ware, nieces, and nephews.
