Reflections of my life…..
My story as Christina Huff began on the 3rd day of May 1926, to the union of Ira and Fannie Huff in Perry County. I was the 2nd of 8 children. My parents preceded me in death. Five (5) of my brothers and sisters also went ahead of me to hold my seat with momma and papa.
I have lived a good life here in Perry County for 97 years. I got my education, and I worked in the Perry County school system. As a young girl I believed in Christ, and I joined New Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church where I served faithfully on the Usher Board until my accident about 10 years ago. Although I couldn’t attend service in person, I remained to be a faithful Servant. Family was everything to me. I loved to cook for my family and friends. I met Edward Pryor early in my life. We married in December 1947. To our union we birthed and raised seven wonderful children. Edward preceded me in death in 1992. Three (3) of my children also preceded me in death, Frances Elizabeth (1977), Ira Joe, Sr. (2016) and Willie James (2021).
On May 11, 2023, after celebrating my 97th birthday, with my family, God whispered to me, “Tina, come on home to Heaven, your Crown and long white robe is waiting for you”.
As you sit here today, I know your heart is aching but rejoice in knowing that I am better. I am no longer laying in my bed on County Road 64, I’ve just moved on up a little higher. I have been made whole again. I am walking around Heaven, enjoying my rewards. Grieve and shed a few tears if you must, just don’t stay there. I leave you with a lifetime of memories that should keep smiles on your faces. I won’t say goodbye but so long, my work on earth has come to an end, I leave you with cherished memories. My beloved children, Ann Huff, Charles Pryor, Robert (Queen) Pryor, and Ben (Lozella) Pryor. My bonus children, Terrance Pryor, Sr., LoShunda Jones (caregiver), Terrance Pryor, Jr. and Trey Evans. My loving brothers, Joe Huff and James Huff. My girlfriends, Dorothy Morton (Big Sis) and Fannie Melton. My caregivers, Sonya Boswell and Anita Pryor. My 16 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren, 9 great-great grandchildren. My special sons, Lee Martin and Mark Moore. My social worker who became a special daughter, Ms. Susan Wilson. My daughter in laws, Sarah Hardnett and Lela Pryor. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and loved ones.
I love you all and now I take my final bow to rest in the arms of Jesus and be with my family that’s gone on before me. Until we meet again
