Walter Suttle, Jr., a pillar of strength and love in his community, passed away peacefully on December 25, 2023, at his residence. Born on September 21, 1939, in Perry County, Alabama, he was a man of deep faith, strong work ethic, and unwavering commitment to his family.
Walter was born to the late Walter Suttle, Sr. and Katie B. Suttle. His life journey began in the nurturing environment of his parents and alongside his siblings, who all preceded him in death: Lorene, Rev. John E. Suttle, Eunice, Ynell, Elizabeth, Barbara, Betty Ruth, Brier Rose, Clifton, Katie Bell, Jay Freeman, Lincoln, Mae Atrice, and Mattie.
Cherished by the love of his life, Fannie B. Harris of Marion, Alabama, stood by his side as his devoted wife. He was a loving father to his daughter, Ycillia Suttle of Berwyn, Illinois, and to his son, Tammy Suttle, and family Also leaves his sisters, Queen Esther Suttle and Rose Marie Thompson, both of Marion, Alabama. He was the grandfather to Aaron, Estella, and Keenan Upshire. His legacy continued to flourish with his six great-grandchildren, Aaranya, Aarvon, Earlene, Aartavion, Erin, and Keenan Upshire, Jr., who all brought immense joy and pride to his life. Walter's passing leaves a void in the hearts of his nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, all of whom he cherished deeply. His presence was a source of comfort, and his advice was sought by many.
He attended Lincoln High School. Walter was known for his intelligence and wit. He joined Provewell Baptist Church at an early age.
Walter's professional life was spent in the logging industry, where he worked for many years.
As we remember Walter Suttle, Jr., we celebrate a life well-lived, and marked by love, His journey on earth has ended, but his spirit continues to inspire all who were blessed to know him. Walter's memory will forever be cherished by his family, friends, and the community he loved dearly.
