Willie J. Smith was born to the late Henry and Willie Lois Smith on May 16, 1940 in Marion, Alabama. He departed this life on Sunday, September 29, 2019 at Druid City Hospital in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.
He confessed Christ at an early age and joined the Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, Marion, Alabama.
After graduation from Lincoln High School in 1958, he moved to North Chicago, Illinois. He attended Lake County Community College in Illinois and received an associate degree in electrical engineering. He worked for the Veterans Administration until retirement. In 1995 he moved back home and became active in many organizations. He was an active member of Hiram #4 Masonic Lodge where he served faithfully. He was an active member in the church where he served on the Trustee Board and a dedicated choir member.
His life was full, rich, and happy. He loved his family. His memory will forever be cherished by his wife Eunice; two daughters, Tiffany (Michael), Tuscaloosa, Alabama, Regina (Gregory), Davenport, Iowa; three sons, Edward (Juanita), Mobile, Alabama, Zachary, Jacksonville, Florida, Bryant (Lisa), Zion, Illinois; one brother/nephew, Kenneth (Gail), Carlisle, Pennsylvania; three aunts, Lizzie Heard, Ethel (Alfred) Woods, Marion, Alabama, Annie Bell Nemo, Chicago, Illinois; two uncles, Preston (Shirley) Green, Tuscaloosa, Alabama, Willie Frank (Katie) Green, Chicago, Illinois; 13 Grandchildren, 13 Great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
