Willie Mae Edwards began her earthly journey on August 24, 1936 with her parents, Jimmie Bryant and Willie Mae Bryant of Marion Alabama. Willie Mae accepted Christ as her personal Savior at an early age and was baptized at Mount Ararat Baptist Church.
Willie Mae remained in Marion living with her parents until she got married 1958 to Levert Edwards. They had 3 children and remained married for 46 years until he transitioned. Willie Mae lived in Syracuse, New York, Waukegan, Illinois until she retired back to her hometown in Marion, Alabama. Willie Mae was employed by Terrace Nursing Home in Waukegan Illinois until retirement.
Willie Mae was very active in the church. She served as the President of the Women's Tea Club and as a Deaconess at Zion Baptist Church in Zion, Illinois. Willie Mae also served as the President of the Missionary Association at Vilula Baptist Church of Marion, Alabama.
Willie Mae leaves to cherish her loving daughter; Ira Fairley and sons; Levert and( Edna Edwards), Levon Edwards all of Marion, Alabama and (Godchildren’s) Derry and Estelle Howard Birmingham, Alabama. She is also survived by nine grandchildren: Carla Gosier(Don Juan Gosier), Carl Fairley of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Lawrence, Icelene and Vanessa Edwards all of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, Tony Henderson Edwards of Wisconsin,Tajma Henderson Edwards of Texas. Dominique Edwards and Paris Turner of Kenosha, Wisconsin; ten great grandchildren: Monique Henderson, Jelani Gosier, Carlito Walker, Quincy Hooker, DeVion Edwards, Taj’Mir Terry, Bryson Terry, Julius Ryans, Luther Ryans and Freeman Ryans; one Great-Great-Grandchild: Winter Henderson
Willie Mae’s surviving siblings are Richard Bryant of Marion Alabama, Tommy and Linda Bryant of Baldwinsville New York, Henry and Doris Bryant of Huntsville Alabama, Corinne Bryant, Columbus, Georgia, Elbert Bryant of Syracuse New York, Alex Bryant of Marion Alabama, Joseph Bryant of Syracuse New York and Arthur Moore, Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin.
